06.10 - 06.16 - Sherlock Holmes and UIL 2

I am having trouble finding the Sherlock Holmes castle photos!
(FYI with Kati, Marti and Barna we went to here: http://www.ctrivervalley.com/4-Connecticut-CT-in-of/Major-attractions-in-CT/gillette_castle_state_park/
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gillette_Castle_State_Park
"Gillette Castle State Park is straddling the towns of East Haddam and Lyme, Connecticut, in the United States. Sitting high above the Connecticut River, the castle was originally a private residence commissioned and designed by William Gillette, an American actorwho is most famous for his portrayal of Sherlock Holmes on stage.
Gillette's estate, called Seventh Sister, was built in 1914 on a 184-acre (74 ha) tract on top of the southernmost of a chain of hills known as the Seven Sisters. After Gillette died, with no wife or children, his will precluded the possession of his castle by any "blithering sap-head who has no conception of where he is or with what surrounded". Connecticut's government took over the property in 1943, renaming the home as Gillette's Castle and the estate as Gillette Castle State Park. The estate was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.[2]
Located at 67 River Road in East Haddam, the park consists of the castle and its grounds and receives 300,000 annual visitors. It reopened in 2002 after four years of restoration, costing 11 million dollars. It now includes a museum, hiking trails, and a picnic area, and holds many theatrical celebrations.
There are a number of oddities in the castle personally designed by Gillette, such as unusual doorknobs and locks, and a system of hidden mirrors for surveillance of the public rooms from the master bedroom.
The grounds used to have a railroad track with a working steam engine and electric engine that visitors could ride on, also designed by Gillette. Some of the track was purchased by Lake Compounce in Bristol, Connecticut and is in use to transport guests around the lake. The remaining track was pulled up and converted into walking trails. From the castle's garden one can see the Connecticut River. The engines were donated back to the park in 1992, where the electric engine is on display and the steam engine awaits restoration."

How would you feel if you have to move out from a 45 square meters room where you lived alone, had your own bedroom, living room, kitchen, fridge and bathroom to a 6 square meters hole? where there is no air conditioning, you share your hole with all kinds of insects!!!!!! roach (like my fingers), cricket, spiders, flies, bugs, etc., and you live with other three people again! Great stuff people, great stuff! I am not complaining, just want a place where there is not supposed to have bugs in a freshly cleaned and painted apartment.

And we live with wild turkeys too! There are two families, one with four turkeys and another with three. They are so funny, when there is a huge storm hits they come and occupy the entrance of the building because there is a small roof above them:) They are afraid of lightnings too:)

Connecticut Financial Building where I work on the 15th floor.

This is my first bike that I bought from my boss that broke into half on the third day. Now I have another one. I ride to work almost every day, it takes pretty much the same time as going with a bus and it keeps me in shape. However, I got soaked every day at least two times. That was not fun at all! 20 miles riding every day keeps you fit for sure!
My thighs are just like cutting boards now. Cool:)
It is miserable though when 6 years old kids with state-of-the-art hip bikes are passing you giving you a feeling of standing, however, you sweat like an idiot. Thanks kids!

06.03 - 06.09 - UIL

I started working at United Illuminating Corporations or UIL Holding as an enterprise risk management intern. I work full time on this project and am having a great time with my boss since the first day.

I am sitting in a cubicle that has no window and surrounded by three walls:) My bosses boss reports to the CEO and only my direct boss and I are working on this confidential project. Nobody, even my bosses boss has no access to the raw data! I love it!

I got pretty much free hands in a lot of things, can be creative and creator/organizer as well at the same time. I will have a lot to take away on one day from this company. I also learnt a lot about Enterprise Risk Management and ERA (Enterprise Risk Assessment), as well as BCP (business continuity planning). Wonderful stuff that you can use in any kinds of business.

I am looking forward to accomplish this mission!

Great to meeting you, Charles!
